WALK WITH THE LORD
The third and final branch of TLW my abbreviated name to thelawdsway.
This branch comes from way. God is the way, truth and life.
Walk with the Lord is to live a life that follows Christ!
What does this mean: live a life of humility, forgiveness, grace, respectfulness, embodying the fruits of the Spirit, being in tune in God’s word, following God’s way and truth. Live a life that follows Christ. What does this mean: not to be greedy, prideful, egotistical, manipulative, dehumanising, mistreating, hateful, judgemental, not to be filled with arrogance and anger.
Living a life that follows Christ is a testament to the personal relationship you have built with God and a symbolisation of how extraordinary and magnificently God works in your lives, in our lives.
We are God’s chosen ones. We are His Children. We are representatives of the Kingdom of Heaven on earth so we must act accordingly in being Christ led in all that we do. Some of us have found our calling from when we were children, some may find it during their later stages in life and that’s okay. It is never too late to start living a life that follows Christ and we must be encouragers not just for ourselves but also for others as we all continue to move forward in our walk with Christ.
Now I’m not going to highlight over the glitz and glam, if we would like to call it that in following Christ. When we make that decision to follow Christ, we are giving up our flesh, living in the Spirit and becoming God’s strongest soldiers. With that said, there will be hardships, and tough times to go through. Please don’t see my words as discouragement but rather awareness of the hardcore truth. Whilst there may be truth in my words, do not see it as a reason to flight away from your walk in Christ but rather the very reason to move closer to God.
Living in the Spirit is the biggest gift and blessing of life we will ever receive and that’s just the beginning. The fruitfulness, mercy, salvation and grace that comes after it as we move further in our walk in Christ is immeasurable. And so, whilst we understand the problems, challenges, issues and troubles that may come our way, we don’t live in uncertainty but faith, we don’t live in doubt but faith, we don’t live in stress but faith, we don’t live in fear but faith. We walk by faith and not by sight.
The key thing here is faith. No matter what is to come our way, our faith in Christ will see us through. Our faith in Christ will help us to overcome. Our faith in Christ will be the very reasons for why the mountains move and we smoothly walk through into the promise land He has created for us. This all comes with following Christ. In total devotion and trust in His ways over our lives, knowing that through Him, we will exceed our expectations in becoming all that we have been willed, destined, purposed and created to be.
Ezekiel 20:19- I am the Lord your God: Walk in My statutes, keep My judgments, and do them. Looking at the overview of chapter 20 in the Bible, it’s separated into three sections: The Rebellions of Israel, God will restore Israel, and Fire in the Forest. Though we find the wordings of verse 19 under Israel’s rebellion, I believe that this whole chapter could be summarised with this simple message: don’t test God, you play around with God you’ll be playing around your life.
Think before you do. Verse 19 is an instruction. It is a declaration of who God is and a reminder of who we are as individuals belonging to God. It is a structure to what it means to follow Christ. We are to walk in His statutes (being His written law), we are to keep His judgements (being His authoritative order) and in following this, we are to practice such statutes and judgements in our lives on a daily basis (being the action we take to fulfil His instructions).
So, we know of this and yet we will still participate in activities that we know are not for us. We know of this and yet we will still actively place ourselves in environments that’s not for us. We know of this and yet we will still whether internally and/or externally, allow an action to be committed against us or by us that we know we should have no direct and/or indirect link to.
We know and yet we still do. We can’t excuse our actions deeming them to be beyond our control. No. We have to hold ourselves accountable. We have to be disciplined. We have to set those boundaries against anyone and/or anything that will hinder us following Christ, this also goes for our internal spiritual warfare.
Such instruction is not only relayed in Ezekiel but also cross referenced in Deuteronomy chapter 5 verses 32-33- “Therefore you shall be careful to do as the Lord your God has commanded you; you shall not turn aside to the right hand or to the left. You shall walk in all the ways which the Lord your God has commanded you, that you may live and that it may be well with you, and that you may prolong your days in the land which you shall possess.
Don’t test God, you play around with God you’ll be playing around your life. The wordings in verse 19 isn’t some light-hearted statement we should just take on the chin, so to speak, and carry on with our day. It is an instruction; it is a command as stated in Deuteronomy. When God is giving you a command, we better act accordingly. He doesn’t instruct, command or govern us for no reason. Everything is for a reason. Everything has a purpose, so when He makes such rule, abide by it, in totality.
These are all crucial elements we must know when following Christ and living a life walking with Christ. We know the consequences of rebellion against God’s word. We also know the fruitfulness of restoration through God. Why choose the former when we have the latter. And even with having the latter why must we play with God’s fire knowing the outcome of what it will cause.
Don’t play with God. He is not ordinary. This isn’t being said in a mocking way but as the truth. God is extraordinary, He defines and goes above and beyond the measurement of normality and possibilities.
Choose a life that serves God not a life that plays Him, the outcome will change the trajectory of your life.
Walk with the Lord, let Him lead and practice His ways.
Remember, Trust in the Lord, Love like the Lord, Walk with the Lord.TLW
