In simple terms, unchained is the process, the act, of removing chains that had been used to fasten and secure something and/or someone. In biblical terms, it is the act of detaching yourself from your flesh, the things of the world and becoming bound by the Spirit, Heaven and God’s Kingdom.

In God we attain freedom. We are free. Such freedom cannot be found anywhere else. Such freedom cannot be tokened, exchanged, borrowed, loaned from someone else. It can only come from God. We can only receive it from God. We become free. We live free. We are free.

Yes, we may be living in this world. Yes, the measurement of our life in terms of who we become takes place in this world. Yes, everything that happens to us, everyone we meet and everywhere we go happens in this world. Yes, to it all but that does not mean we must live for this world. We live in this world, but we live for God.

You hear the difference, the ‘in’ is our location, the ‘for’ is the purpose and the purpose outweighs the location for wherever we may go in this life in this world. No matter what, the for, our for should forever be for God.

We live for God, always. If you have been struggling with the works of the world, don’t feel ashamed but find the courage to seek God, detach yourself from the things of the world, make your life become led by the Spirit, become unchained in the process of it all and turn your life to live for God, now and forevermore.

God is the principal against all principalities. We live under God’s principalities and in doing so that’s how we remain free. Though, it is important for us to know that there are many other principalities out there that are not of God. Spiritual warfare is real and so it is important for us to be covered by the blood of Jesus in all that we do, to wear the Armour of God at all times.

We know of the armour of God from Ephesians 6:13-17 Therefore take up the whole armour of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness, and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace; above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one.  And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.

The armour of God covers us from the top of our head to the bottom of our feet. The helmet of salvation to breastplate of righteousness to girded waist with truth to shod feet with preparation of the gospel of peace and above all to the shield of faith and the sword of the Spirit. We are anointed, covered, guarded and therefore in all things we are free because we are kept in God’s protection.

God gives us the armour of God freely but do we as His children embody it wholly? Ephesians 6:10-12 and 18-20 states: Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. Put on the whole armour of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints- and for me, that utterance may be given to me, that I may open my mouth boldly to make known the mystery of the gospel, or which I am an ambassador in chains; that in it I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak.

Before the armour of God is outlined, we are told to be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. In doing so, we can stand against the devil, against principalities, powers, rulers of darkness and spiritual hosts of wickedness. We must be strong in the Lord.

Strength in God can be tested by fleshly desires. That is why this passage later tells us that we must pray always and be watchful in perseverance not just to the things around us, in the spiritual but within us as well so that it becomes easier to detect where our weaknesses lie and from knowing of such weaknesses, we can pray to God to help us to persevere and gain strength in Him to not fall to the fleshly desires.

So, gain strength in God, wear the armour of God, pray and persevere through God- three key steps to remain under God’s principalities.

As we follow these three steps, we shall remain free in God as through Him we attain everlasting freedom.

Remember, Trust in the Lord, Love like the Lord, Walk with the Lord.TLW
