We are more than halfway through the first month of 2026.

First and foremost, HAPPY NEW YEAR! I hope you all had a lovely time celebrating new year surrounded by loved ones.

I wanted to start this new year talking about change. It's only fitting as a new year has the capacity to bring about change, whether good or bad- but hopefully it's been good to you.

Ecclesiastes 9:11 NKJV reads:

[11] I returned and saw under the sun that- the race is not to the swift, nor the battle to the strong, nor bread to the wise, nor riches to the men of understanding, nor favour to men of skill; but time and chance happen to them all.

Change is constant. It's inevitable. It's definitive. With change, it brings about new experiences, people and environments that can aid to your rising or downfall. That's why change interacts well with time- whatever change you find yourself in, it can add more time to your life (rising) or can take time away (downfall).

Be smart with change.

Take time to think of the aftermath of what such change can bring- will it be worth it? Will it be a mistake? What are the effects or impacts such change will bring?

Since the first of January, I don't know why but this phrase has been stuck in my head, literally everyday:

One day everybody is going to die,

So, each day everybody is trying to live,

The difference is the former is definitive,

The latter depends on what you give for what you will get.

It seems that the concept of life and death mirrors the concept of time and change. As with change, death is inevitable. It's definitive. As with time, life is a choice. It's a chance of new experiences, environments, and people.

Going back to Ecclesiastes 9:11 NKJV- life is full of changes. Whether it be a new path (race), a new challenge (battle), new resources (bread), a new financial situation (riches) or becoming in receipt of a new form of grace (favour), in life there will always be something new and different coming our way.

So, what we decide to do with the something new or something different is what will impact the time that we have, to utilise it to the benefit of ourselves and those around us. Irrespective of the change that may arise, we receive the gift of time to determine how we will acknowledge, accept, and adapt to the change.

We have a whole new year to live and see through that will come with its changes, whether externally or internally. I hope that whatever change that you may face will be good to you and will add to the time that you have, to live out the life you seek to live on this earth. I hope it gives you the chance to explore life in a way greater than you could have ever expected or imagined having been given the opportunity to do so.

I pray the change will uplift you and raise you up to newer levels, better opportunities, and greater experiences.

I pray 2026 will be good to you.

So whatever change may come, take control of it, and use it to the benefit of you.

Remember, Trust in the Lord, Love like the Lord and Walk with the Lord. TLW
