Breakthrough can be classified as meaning a sudden important discovery or development. In biblical terms, to me it means the process to which an individual has overcome, become free, moved forward from and progressed over a situation, event or circumstance that was occurring.
Breakthrough is not only a thing of request when seeking God’s mercy but also a thing of praise when obtaining God’s grace. I feel like life is a constant timeframe of breakthroughs. I mean it through growth as we move upwards in the academic and professional ladder and change as we fulfil an achievement, move to new environments, encounter new people. There is always a reason to which an individual would have break through something.
With breakthrough having a connotation to freedom, it may be deemed as a negative word in how one had been setback and limited to move forward until obtaining such freedom. Why don’t we see it as a positive connotation. In doing so, we see it as a notion of God’s grace, presence, salvation, redemption and mercy as we experience and go through every life event that comes our way, we know God is our constant and He is consistently helping us to push through. Even though the situation may be negative the outcome will be positive as we have God by our side, making a way like He always does.
When preparing for this episode, I saw the wordings of verse 5 from Psalms 130 and I think it resonates here. In the NKJV version it states:
I wait for the Lord, my soul waits, and in His word I do hope.
Everything does not happen on our timeline but God’s and so in the season of waiting, it’s hard trying to not fall into the traps of doubt and uncertainty, thinking this will be the outcome of your life. The waiting season isn’t a season of stillness but activeness. This is when God is working tremendously hard to get us out of the sunken place, we have found ourselves in and into the promise land He has for us. We should be slow to doubt and fear and quick to hope and faith. We should remain in hope and in faith intensely during the waiting period as God is working.
God is a God of breakthrough; He doesn’t do things for no reason. We may be in the valleys, blocked by the mountains, surrounded by darkness and running out of patience. This is what is visibly present but remember we walk by faith and not by sight. So, we need to change our perspective to see that we are in a season of overcoming, God’s light shining on us, He sees our hunger in breaking through this period of our life and feels our hope and faith in Him, assured that everything will work out as we serve a living God.
We serve a God who breaks through. Nothing is impossible for God. He is invincible so rest assured as He is breaking down those barriers, stumbling blocks, walls and hurdles in preparation as we get ready to walk through to the promise land.
We are victors and conquerors.
God is a God of breakthrough.
He overcomes; He frees; He makes the way and directs our path.
Lean on Him always.
Remember, Trust in the Lord, Love like the Lord and Walk with the Lord. TLW
